Dungeons II Skins: Can You Use Custom Skins?
You cannot use your own Minecraft skin in Minecraft Dungeons II (Minecraft Dungeons 2), as far as official information and player reports show as of Oct 2, 2026. You pick from a set of premade hero skins, and you can switch between them later. Extra skins come from the Deluxe Edition and the pre-order bonus. A fan-made skin mod existed for the first game, but no confirmed Dungeons II version has turned up yet.
What skins are in the game
- Premade hero skins. A Steam player answering “How does character creation work?” says there are about 20 premade skins at launch, plus Steve and Alex. This is a player count; Mojang has not published a list.
- Deluxe Edition. The Steam store page lists four hero skins, the Soul cape and the Blub pet, plus DLC 1 and 2 as they release. See release time, price and editions for the full breakdown.
- Pre-order bonus. Two hero skins, the Twisted cape and the Twisted Chicken pet. Details are on the capes and promos page.
Can you change your skin later?
Yes, according to players. One Steam reply says you can change the premade skin any time, and that equipped armor covers most of it, so the choice matters less than in regular Minecraft. Your look in a run comes mainly from your gear; see the armor database.
Custom skins and mods
- No official custom skins. A Steam thread titled “Hope we’ll be able to use custom skins on our characters” had replies saying custom skins are unlikely in Dungeons II, and Mojang has not said otherwise.
- Mods. The first Minecraft Dungeons had an unofficial custom skin loader. Players expect a version for Dungeons II, and searches for a “skin mod” or “skin loader” are rising, but we found no confirmed working release for Dungeons II.
- Risks. Mods are unofficial and PC only. Patches can break them, and they may cause problems in online co-op. We do not link to mod files.
Deluxe or pre-order skins not showing up
Several Steam players report cosmetics they paid for not unlocking:
- Link your Microsoft account. Players say the skins appeared once their Xbox/Microsoft account was connected to the game.
- Check the platform. Deluxe cosmetics bought on Steam do not follow you to PlayStation or Switch. Only Xbox Play Anywhere purchases carry over between Xbox and PC.
- Check your DLC list. On Steam, players say the Hero, Soul and Deluxe Upgrade DLCs should all show as owned.
- Contact support. If none of that works, players recommend contacting Microsoft support with proof of purchase, since the Steam forums cannot fix account entitlements.
What we could not verify
The official number of premade skins, whether Mojang plans more skins or a custom skin option, and whether a working Dungeons II skin mod exists. We will update this page when Mojang announces cosmetics or a patch changes skins. For sign-in and account issues, see Microsoft account link failed.
FAQ
Can you use your own Minecraft skin in Minecraft Dungeons II?
Not officially, as far as we can find. Players describe a set of premade hero skins to pick from, and Mojang has not announced support for importing your own Minecraft skin as of Oct 2, 2026.
How many skins are there?
One Steam player counts about 20 premade skins plus Steve and Alex at launch. That is a player count, not an official number. The Deluxe Edition adds four hero skins and the pre-order bonus added two.
Can you change your skin later?
A Steam player says you can change your premade skin at any time, and that armor covers most of it anyway.
Is there a custom skin mod?
The first Minecraft Dungeons had a fan-made custom skin loader mod. Players expect a Dungeons II version, but we found no confirmed working one for Dungeons II yet. Mods are unofficial, PC only, and can break after patches or affect online play.
My Deluxe or pre-order skins are missing. What do I do?
Players say linking the game to your Microsoft (Xbox) account fixed it for them. Deluxe cosmetics do not carry across platforms unless the game is an Xbox Play Anywhere purchase. If they still do not appear, contact Microsoft support with proof of purchase.
