The Monarch is a campaign boss that many Minecraft Dungeons II (Minecraft Dungeons 2) players find harder than the final boss, and the most common advice is to bring burst damage and defense. Mojang has published no boss guide, so everything below is player reports as of Oct 16, 2026, not confirmed mechanics.

FAQ

How do you beat the Monarch in Minecraft Dungeons II?

Mojang has not published a guide. Players say burst damage and tankiness work: a mandolin artifact, damage artifacts such as the grindstone, strength banner and fighting fungus, protection on all armor pieces, and area damage for crowds. These are player reports, not tested by us.

Can the Monarch be respawned for farming?

Unclear. One Reddit thread says he is sometimes in the arena and sometimes not, and one reply says he cannot be respawned in the same arena and must be found in a dungeon. Neither is confirmed by Mojang.

Where does Monarch armor drop?

Not confirmed. One Reddit reply says unique sets drop in the same areas as their base set and that Monarch armor drops in Frozen Highlands or Lullaby Hills. Another poster recommends boss farming elsewhere. Several players say they have not seen a piece yet.

Is the Monarch a Sift boss?

Pre-launch data listed the Monarch as a Sift boss. In release, players describe fighting him in the campaign after Rainy Plains. We treat the pre-launch list as unverified.
