Minecraft Dungeons 2 Prime Enchanter Boss Bugs
SymptomAfter a crash during the Prime Enchanter fight, the launcher or bounce pad throws you out of bounds and back, and you cannot re-enter the arena.
If Minecraft Dungeons II (Minecraft Dungeons 2) crashed during the Prime Enchanter fight and you can no longer get into the arena, there is no confirmed fix yet. At least seven Reddit posters describe the same pattern: crash, relaunch, then the piston launcher or pressure plate throws you into the middle of the room and the game sends you back. Mojang has not addressed this specific bug as of Oct 3, 2026.
What players report
- Crash first, then loop: posters say the game crashed late in the fight (or midway), and afterwards the launcher sends them to the centre of the arena, which counts as out of bounds, and puts them back before the launcher. Repeating does not help.
- One poster could not use the bounce pad to enter at all after the crash.
- One player says Return to Checkpoint also left them blocked, and that the boss then walked onto the pressure plate himself and was launched, which completed the fight and unlocked the Past Their Prime achievement. This is one odd case, not a method.
- A Steam poster says the piston launcher threw them into the lowered middle floor and killed them instantly, and that this started after the latest patch (their words; we have not found a patch note). A reply suggests the Return to Checkpoint option in the settings tab. The poster says that did not help, and that choosing reset quest, which sends you back to the start of the quest and loses progress, got them back to the boss; the launcher still threw them into the pit but the cutscene could still play. One poster, not confirmed.
- A new Reddit post (Oct 3) describes the same crash halfway through the boss fight and a bugged fight after reloading.
- One player got into the fight by rolling the moment they touched the launcher. It is a single report and may not work for you.
- One player says the boss dashed off the edge about 10 seconds into the fight and the quest completed with no loot.
- A co-op pair says they went over the pistons and fell through the centre of the arena, then respawned on the boss platform with the fight marked defeated, no loot and no cutscene (Reddit, Oct 3). They asked whether it can be replayed; no answer is confirmed.
- One player says that after relaunching they had to redo the castle ambushes because checkpoints were not kept.
- Two Switch 2 posters describe heavy stutter or a crash in the same fight when firing arrows. Possibly related, not confirmed.
What you can try
- Quit to the title screen and reload your character, then approach the launcher again. This is a generic step, not a reported fix.
- Try the roll-on-contact trick described above. It is one player’s report.
- Report it to Mojang with the Steam thread above or in-game feedback, noting your platform and whether you were in co-op.
What Mojang has said
Mojang’s pinned Steam post says hotfixes for crashes and stability are in progress. It does not mention this boss.
What we could not verify
How many players are affected, which platforms, and whether a patch is planned. This page relies on player reports only and will be updated after an official response or patch. For the wider family of arena problems see boss arena out-of-bounds, and for crashes see crash on launch. The weapon this boss is known for is covered in Prime Enchanter Gauntlets.
FAQ
Why can't I re-enter the Prime Enchanter fight after a crash?
Several players say that after the game crashed mid-fight, the piston launcher or pressure plate before the arena sends them to the middle of the room, the game treats it as out of bounds and returns them to the start of the launcher. This is a player-reported bug. Mojang has not commented on it as of Oct 3, 2026.
Is there a fix?
No fix is confirmed. One poster says rolling the moment they touched the launcher got them into the fight. Another says Return to Checkpoint also left them blocked. Mojang says hotfixes for stability are in progress.
Do I lose progress when the game crashes during the fight?
One player says checkpoints were not kept after relaunching, so they had to walk back through the castle and redo its ambushes (about 15 minutes). This is a single report.
I defeated the Prime Enchanter but got no loot. Why?
One poster says the boss dashed off the edge about 10 seconds into the fight, the quest completed, and no loot dropped. It is a single report and no fix is confirmed.
Does this affect every platform?
Reports do not name a platform in most cases. Two Switch 2 posters describe heavy stutter or a crash in this same fight, which may be related, but that is not confirmed.
Did this fix it?
